Bibliographies can be imported from any file in standard ASCII format. If you have a Microsoft Word 3.01 file, for example, first save it as text only.
You can also import bibliographies in UNIX 'refer' format, using the
utility included with HyperSource. (see UNIX 'Refer' Format*)
To import a bibliography from a text file, you must first format the file as follows. For each book or article, separate author, title, pub., notes, and key information with tabs. If a field is blank be sure to include a tab for it anyway. This reformatting is laborious, but it is still faster than re-typing. (Hint: in a Word 3.01 file, first insert the necessary tabs. Then use search and replace to delete all the carriage returns). Note: if HS can't find the file, try entering the complete pathname in the dialog box.
